About DontPayClaims.com

4 questions
Is DontPayClaims.com a law firm?

No. We're not a law firm. We don't give legal advice and we don't represent you in court. What we do: help you write a clean, organized demand letter or court-prep packet from your facts — so you can handle the dispute yourself, like most renters do.

Do I need a lawyer to send a demand letter or go to small claims court?

No, for most disputes. Small claims court is designed for people to represent themselves — that's the whole point. Our tools give you organized, professional documents so you walk in prepared.

What types of disputes do you support?

Currently, we focus on landlord and security deposit disputes: unreturned deposits, unfair move-out deductions, normal wear-and-tear charges, deposit return deadline violations, and similar civil disputes with landlords or property management companies. We plan to add more categories in the future.

Do you guarantee results?

No. We provide tools to help you communicate your dispute clearly and prepare for court. The outcome depends on the specific facts of your case, your state's laws, how the other party responds, and many other factors. You are responsible for filing, serving, and using all documents.

Demand Fighter

5 questions
What is Demand Fighter?

Demand Fighter generates a customized demand letter based on your specific dispute. You answer questions through a guided wizard — about your lease, the charges you're disputing, your evidence, and what you want back. Our AI then generates two versions (Professional and Aggressive) built from the same facts. You choose the version that fits your situation.

What's the difference between the Professional and Aggressive versions?

Both versions use the exact same facts you provided. The Professional version is calm, firm, and settlement-oriented — great for landlords who may have made a mistake or where you want to keep things civil. The Aggressive version uses sharper language with more urgency and makes consequences of non-compliance very clear — better for landlords who are ignoring you or acting in bad faith.

How long does it take to complete the Demand Fighter intake?

Most people finish in about 10 minutes. The wizard has 7 steps covering eligibility, your info, the property and landlord, dispute facts, money and evidence, review, and version selection. Your progress auto-saves, so you can close the browser and come back later.

What does the Demand Fighter mail add-on do?

For $14.99, we print your chosen demand letter version and mail it directly to your landlord via USPS First-Class Mail. This creates a paper trail showing you formally demanded your money back — which strengthens any future small claims case if your landlord doesn't respond. You can track delivery status from your dashboard.

What if my landlord ignores the demand letter?

That's exactly what Small Claims Fighter is for. Your demand letter creates a paper trail showing you tried to resolve the dispute before going to court, which is something judges want to see. You can start a Small Claims Fighter order anytime.

Small Claims Fighter

5 questions
What is Small Claims Fighter?

Small Claims Fighter prepares a complete 6-document court prep packet: case summary, damages worksheet, evidence checklist, hearing prep guide, filing reminders, and service of process instructions. It's everything you need to walk into small claims court organized and prepared.

What's in the 6-document packet?

Your packet includes: (1) a Case Summary — a clear overview of your dispute for the judge; (2) a Damages Worksheet — every dollar itemized with justifications; (3) an Evidence Checklist — what you have and what you still need; (4) a Hearing Prep Guide — opening statement outline, key talking points, and courtroom tips; (5) Filing Reminders — where to file, what forms to bring, and general deadline guidance; (6) Service of Process Guide — how to properly serve the defendant.

Does Small Claims Fighter file my case for me?

No. We prepare the documents and provide guidance, but you are responsible for filing your case with the court and serving the other party. Our packet includes filing reminders and service instructions to help you through that process.

Should I send a demand letter first?

In most cases, yes. Sending a demand letter before filing in small claims court shows the judge you tried to resolve the dispute first. Many landlords settle after receiving a demand letter, which saves you the time and filing fees of going to court. We'll suggest this during the Small Claims Fighter intake if you haven't already sent one.

What does the Small Claims Fighter mail add-on do?

For $12.99, we print your complete court prep packet and mail it to your address via USPS, so you have a professional physical copy ready for court day. The Small Claims Fighter mail add-on delivers to your address only — we do not mail to courts or opposing parties.
